キット ・ダウンズは英国と欧州のジャズシーンをリードする最もエキサイティングでクリエィティブなジャズピアニストの1人である。世界有数の名門、王立音楽アカデミーを卒業、若干23歳の時にリリースしたデビューアルバム 「Golden」 はU.K.マーキュリー賞(英国のグラミー賞)ジャズ部門において大賞受賞BBCジャズアワードで新人賞受賞。最新のアルバムObsidianは名門ECMレコードからリリースされた。
キットは並外れた即興性をもつ作曲家でパフォーマー。ピアノ、キーボード、パイプオルガン チェロを自在に弾きこなし、音楽表現の新たなチャレンジと道を切り開いてきた。ジャズというジャンルを超えて、クラシック、エレクトリック音楽やプログレッシブロックまで幅広く限りない音楽性を秘めたミュージシャンである。初来日はECMアーティストのThomas Stronenトーマス・ストーネンが企画するツアーで、今回の再来日はジャンルの異なる日本の素晴らしいミュージシャン達とコラボレーションを展開する。

Kit Downes is one of the most exciting and creative jazz pianists in the UK and European jazz scene. From early success with his first album “Golden”, and winning the jazz category of the UK Mercury Awards in 2009, to his latest solo album on the world famous ECM label, Kit has blazed a trail as a formidable improviser and composer and performer. Completely at home on piano, keyboard and now church organ, Kit is continuously open to new discoveries with jazz, progressive rock and a range of eclectic groups, all with gifted musical partners.
Kit is excited to return to Japan after his first visit with fellow ECM artist Thomas Stronen on the Time Is a Blind Guide tour in 2015. This time Kit brings his latest work in Point of No Return to premier in Japan.
